a 47-day wilderness exploration

the Christian tradition of Lent is a time of reflection leading into Easter. it is modeled after Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness as depicted in the Gospels, and serves as a time to prepare our hearts and minds for the Easter season and whatever God has planned for us next.

each day we’ll read a Scripture, and adapt our usual Discovery Bible Study questions for our creative minds:

  • what does this say about God as Creator?

  • what does this say about human creativity?

  • what obedience is God inviting this week?

  • what is a creative way i can share this idea with someone today?

i hope this series will be encouraging. and i hope it inspires you to create some new things and share them with all of us following along.

the short videos can be viewed below, or on nearly all social media platforms.

use of ChatGPT

this PDF was developed through an extended collaboration between paul skidmore and ChatGPT.

skidmore brought the vision: daily Scripture videos under three minutes, rooted in the Discovery Bible Study framework, shaped specifically for creatives, and aligned with the rhythm of Lent.

together, they:

  • structured the 2026 Lent calendar from Ash Wednesday to Easter (47 calendar days).

  • built a seven-Act narrative arc that mirrors both the biblical story and a cinematic three-act structure.

  • selected Scripture passages from the standard evangelical canon (CSB translation), ensuring no repetition.

  • developed creative-focused reflections and application prompts for each day.

  • adapted the traditional DBS questions into a framework tailored to artists and makers.

ChatGPT assisted in organizing themes, drafting reflections, and maintaining theological and structural coherence. skidmore shaped tone, depth, audience focus, and creative direction.

the result is not merely an AI-generated devotional, nor merely a human outline—it is a collaborative work crafted through intentional dialogue, theological grounding, and creative refinement.

Like all creative work, it reflects process: questioning, revising, expanding, tightening, and aligning vision with execution.
